Is 24 Guna Enough? (And Other Score Questions)
Short answer first: yes, 24 out of 36 is a workable score. It is above the traditional minimum of 18, and it sits in the "workable" band. A few sites call 24 "good" and some start "good" at 25. Either way, nobody should be worried by a 24.
The rest of this page answers the questions people actually type or ask at home. If you want the full breakdown of the eight parts first, read The 36 gunas, explained like a score.
Kitne guna chahiye shaadi ke liye?
The usual rule of thumb is 18 or more, which is half of 36. Here is how AstroCalc reads the score:
| Score | Plain reading |
|---|---|
| Below 18 | Below the usual minimum. Talk it through with your pandit. |
| 18 to 24 | Workable match. |
| 25 to 32 | Good match. |
| 33 to 36 | Excellent match. |
There is no classical rule that says "exactly this many gunas and no fewer". 18 is a practical floor that families have used for a long time.
24 guna milna theek hai?
Yes. 24 clears the minimum with room to spare. What matters more than the total is where the marks were lost. A 24 that lost its marks on Varna and Vashya (3 marks combined) is a very different story from a 24 that lost the 8 marks of Nadi. Look at the individual parts, not just the total.
18 se kam guna hon to kya shaadi nahi ho sakti?
No. Below 18, tradition says "look more carefully", not "stop". Families usually ask a pandit to check which parts are low and whether any cancellation applies. Many Nadi and Bhakoot "zeros" are cancelled by classical rules, which can lift the total a lot. Try the free check to see the score after cancellations.
36 mein se 36 mile to kya sab perfect hoga?
A high score means two Moons fit well. It says nothing about the 7th house, Venus, the timing of life phases, or how the two people communicate. A 34 with no conversation will struggle more than a 22 with plenty of it. See Matchmaking: Beyond the Score.
Alag-alag websites alag score kyun dikhate hain?
This is the most common source of confusion, and it usually comes down to a few small choices:
- Cancellations. Some sites print the raw "0" for Nadi or Bhakoot. Others (like AstroCalc) give the marks back when a classical exception applies.
- Tara and Gana. Printed tables differ by a point or two on a few combinations, for example how Deva with Manushya is scored.
- Birth time and place. The Moon travels roughly one nakshatra a day. A birth time that is off by a few hours rarely changes anything, but when the Moon is close to a sign or nakshatra boundary, it can.
- Calculation settings. Sites use slightly different ayanamsa (the zodiac reference point), which can shift a borderline Moon.
If two sites disagree by a few marks, compare the individual parts rather than the totals. The part that differs tells you which choice is responsible.
Nadi ya Bhakoot zero aaye to kya karein?
Stay calm, and check for cancellation first. Both are common: roughly one pair in three shares a Nadi, and Bhakoot "dosha" distances come up often. Each has recognised exceptions. Read Nadi dosha: what it is and when it's cancelled and Bhakoot dosha: the Moon-sign distance rule. Then ask your pandit to confirm.
Manglik hai to kya guna kam ho jaate hain?
No. Manglik status (Mars placement) is not part of the 36 gunas. It is checked separately. A couple can score 30 and still have a Manglik question to look at, or score 22 with no Manglik question at all. The free check shows both. For the detail, read The Manglik Dosha.
Birth time pata nahi, thoda upar-neeche ho to?
For the Guna Milan, only the Moon matters, and the Moon moves slowly. If the time is off by an hour or two, the result is usually the same. If you are unsure by many hours, or the birth was close to midnight, ask the family for the best-recorded time (hospital papers are the usual source). A pandit can sometimes confirm using the day's panchang.
Love marriage mein bhi kundli milan zaroori hai?
That depends on the family, not the chart. Many couples check the score to put parents at ease, then decide for themselves how much weight to give it. It is a tradition, and you are free to treat it as information rather than a gate.
Score ke baad pandit aur kya dekhte hain?
Usually three more things: the Manglik balance between the two charts, the 7th house and Venus in each chart, and the dasha (life-phase timing) running for each person. The score is the first step, and these are the next steps. Matchmaking: Beyond the Score covers all of them.
